Artmania’s mobile classes in local north shore elementary schools offer exciting opportunities for students to explore techniques and materials that are often beyond classroom resources. This spring, our students developed an impressionist landscape with acrylic on canvas. This special art project required research outdoors, sketching the immediate surroundings including instruction in colour theory.
Students focused on perspective, foreground, background and learned how to create a painting with depth.
We used the same techniques to draw and paint a still life scene (for our last project).
The still life scene was inspired by the fauvism style used by artists like Henri Mattisse
Learning impressionism with its representational and realistic qualities to the simplification and abstraction of fauvism, artmania students created their own wonderful masterpieces this spring.
Spring classes are completed, but artmania is ready for it’s summer line-up of new and exciting programs. Register for a summer class online http://www.artmaniabc.ca/art-classes/ or call our studio 604-670-7592. AND join our summer class give-away below!
