MOBILE CLASSES: In Your Local Elementary Schools
At artmania, we believe art is central to learning. Art provides a rich language for integrated, meaningful and engaging education for both children and adults. That’s why we are excited about our new line of art classes this January! We’ll be using History to learn about sketching and relief patterns, geography and dendrology. We’ll explore light and refine our painting and sketching techniques.
Our Mobile Classes are on the website and registration has begun! Artmania’s lunch time and after school classes at your local elementary schools are the perfect supplement to your child’s education. The classes in the New Year will cover two topics, the beautiful Banyan trees and the bold work of artist Georgia O’Keefe.
Students will discover the ecosystems of the Banyan tree and learn the valuable technique of colour mixing with paint and oil pastels and the visual effects colour theory can create. In the second part of the program, students will explore the work of Georgia O’Keefe, the “Mother of American modernism”. Inspired by O’Keefe’s bold and expressionistic art style, students will create a beautiful transparent painting mounted in a shadow box frame.
Register your child for our school program now! It will make the Perfect Christmas Gift!
STUDIO CLASSES: In Dundarave
There are many more art classes to choose from at artmania. Our mobile classes were just the beginning. We’ve grown into an enriching art school in our beautiful gallery in Dundarave offering classes for all ages and abilities.
Integrated learning continues in our studio classes as we use science for our Pendulum painting, history to learn about sketching and metallic relief patterns, geography and dendrology to learn about Banyon Trees and explore light. Inspired by the encaustic workshop artmania’s instructors took part in, we’ll be continuing to offer mixed media classes adding encaustic collagraphs, wax and resin to our repertoire.
And for the first time, this January, explore writing with us through the visual beauty of art. This series of accessible classes brings poetry and art together in a series of exercises that guide participants from immersive sensory experience through to self expression in a new medium – writing. Taught by ArtMania owner and artist Mary Hay and poet Deborah Harford, we invite you to join us on an adventure of the senses!
Visit our website for the full list of classes from parent and tot, to preschooler, to school aged, homeschoolers and adults. You’ll find the perfect class for you and your loved ones and the perfect gift to place under the tree!
